Privacy & cookies

Updated: 21 October 2026 · Swiss data-protection law (FADP)

1. Controller and scope

TreeoL Verlag c/o Klee Collection GmbH, Gewerbestrasse 14, 6314 Unterägeri/ZG, Switzerland. This policy explains the processing of personal data when you visit the publisher's website, contact us with general questions or submit a manuscript online. It is based on the Swiss Federal Act on Data Protection (FADP). Other mandatory data-protection requirements remain applicable where relevant.

2. Data we process

We process data necessary for the relevant purpose: technical connection data when you visit the website, information from the contact form (name, your own contact email, subject and message), and your name, contact email, short description and uploaded file when submitting a manuscript. Technical data may include your IP address, date and time, pages visited, browser type, operating system and error messages. They are used to operate, secure and troubleshoot the website.

3. Online manuscript submission and contact

Submit manuscripts exclusively online through this website. Upload your manuscript as a PDF or DOCX file and submit the completed form. Manuscripts are not accepted by email. The email you enter in the form is used for questions about your submission. Your PDF or DOCX file is saved in cloud storage; the associated details and submission status are recorded in the database. After saving, the publisher's administrator is notified through a platform message; no automatic acknowledgement is sent. Enquiries submitted through the contact form are also handled as an administrative platform message. The data collected there are used only for the purpose of handling your enquiry. Data from a manuscript submission are used to review your work, communicate with you and, where appropriate, prepare a collaboration. Do not submit unnecessary sensitive data or material you are not authorised to share.

4. Purposes and retention

Data are processed to operate and secure the website, answer enquiries, review manuscripts, prepare and perform agreed services, and meet legal obligations. Where consent is required, processing is based on that consent. Personal data are retained only as long as required by the relevant purpose, an agreed collaboration or statutory retention obligations. Mandatory legal requirements or the protection of legitimate legal claims may prevent immediate deletion following a request.

5. Cookies and local settings

Your language preference is stored as ‘treeol-language’ and your cookie-notice choice as ‘cookie-consent’ in your browser's local storage. Technically necessary cookies may be used for protected functions and sessions. This publisher website currently includes no optional analytics or marketing cookies; choosing ‘Accept’ therefore does not activate such a tracking service. You can delete or restrict cookies and local data in your browser settings. Free PDF links do not require a newsletter subscription, and this website currently has no newsletter signup form.

6. Hosting, cloud storage and providers

Hosting, the database, file storage and administrative notifications use Manus infrastructure and its associated hosting and cloud providers. These providers may process connection and usage data when serving pages and files. They receive data as necessary for their tasks and to provide the website's functions. Processing outside Switzerland is possible. Such processing must observe the safeguards required by applicable data-protection law. The Manus platform also describes its processing in its own privacy information.

7. Fonts and external content

The website loads the Inter and Playfair Display fonts through Google Fonts. Your browser connects to Google servers to retrieve them; this may transmit your IP address and technical connection data to Google. Images and files are served through hosting and cloud infrastructure. External websites such as Spuki, the book website, booksellers and Swissreg are linked, rather than displayed as embedded social-media feeds. Following a website link opens the destination website, whose own privacy information applies to its processing.

8. Webshop and payment processing

All materials are sold through the Humanistic School Switzerland webshop. Orders, payments and fulfilment are handled by TreeoL Verlag c/o Klee Collection GmbH. This publisher website does not operate its own shopping cart or payment checkout. Order, delivery and payment data are collected in the webshop and processed as described in its privacy policy. According to Humanistic School Switzerland, payments are processed through Stripe; card details are not collected or stored on this publisher website. Stripe's own privacy information also applies. When purchasing through other linked booksellers, the respective provider's information applies.

9. Disclosure and data security

Personal data are disclosed only as necessary to handle your enquiry or submission, provide technical infrastructure, perform agreed services or comply with legal obligations. Submitting a manuscript does not publish it. People involved in the review within the publisher's organisation and necessary providers may have access. Appropriate technical and organisational measures are intended to protect data from loss, manipulation and unauthorised access. Despite safeguards, internet transmission and storage cannot provide absolute security.

10. Your rights and contact

Under applicable data-protection law, you may in particular request access to your personal data, correction or deletion. Other rights, such as receiving your data, restricting processing or objecting, may apply where the legal conditions are met. You may withdraw consent with effect for the future. Send your request through our Contact form and select the “Privacy” category; a proportionate identity check may be necessary. Statutory exceptions and retention obligations remain applicable. You may also contact the competent supervisory authority, including the Federal Data Protection and Information Commissioner (FDPIC) in Switzerland.

11. Changes to this policy

This policy may be updated when website functions, services or legal requirements change. The date above identifies the current version. Changes do not create retrospective consent for new processing purposes.
